How it works
Things to consider
- No Lab Setup required
Running experiments using Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) eliminates the need for complex lab setups. All you need are mobile devices, allowing participants to engage in remote areas, even without an internet connection (see point 4).
- Human-Centered Focus
Our design process prioritizes usability, inclusivity, and iteration. Game interfaces are designed to be intuitive, fostering user confidence and reducing technical barriers. Feedback loops and iterative prototyping ensure the final product aligns with participant needs. At ProsperPlay, we draw inspiration from the power of ethnographic design - a research methodology that prioritizes understanding the cultural, social, and contextual realities of the communities we aim to serve. This approach has proven transformative in designing tools and experiences that are truly user-centered and inclusive. Learn more about it in this paper about designing text-free user interfaces.
- Platform independent
We offer cross-platform development of completely customizable progressive web apps (PWAs), native Android or iOS apps on request. This allows for a faster development cycle and flexibility of the devices being used during the experiment. Updates can be pushed to devices in real-time in case last minute changes are needed.
- Spotty Internet connection
Sometimes the experiments might be conducted in areas with unstable or no internet connection. For those cases we offer offline support, storing the game data on the devices and synchronizing the data from the game when connection is established again. This allows you to conduct your research anywhere in the world.
- Know your audience
Game design is tailored to diverse literacy levels, cultural contexts, and user needs. We incorporate universally understood icons, visuals, and tactile designs and offer localization services to minimize language barriers.
- Make enumerators happy
Successful field experiments depend on enumerator-friendly tools. Our systems include clear workflows, safeguards, and easy login procedures, streamlining the facilitation process and reducing potential stress.
- Not everyone has glasses
Our games are designed for tablets and larger mobile devices to ensure readability and ease of use. Features like clear typography, adjustable font sizes, and high-contrast visuals make participation seamless for diverse audiences.
- Let it rain, let it grow
Animations and visual feedback bridge the gap between digital actions and real-world consequences. Was a farming decision good? Watch the corn grow taller!
